Layrd Design delivered a full interior design and fit-out scheme for Yawn Marketing’s new Norwich headquarters in May 2022. As a growing creative agency with a strong brand identity, Yawn wanted their new space to do more than just function.
It needed to represent who they are as a team and how they work.
The brief was simple but ambitious: bring energy, creativity and personality into a previously uninspiring office, creating a space that supports collaboration, conversation and culture.
We approached the design by embracing the character of the building, using existing period features as an anchor for the scheme. Instead of masking them, we highlighted original elements and paired them with contemporary materials and colour.
A playful palette inspired by Yawn’s branding helped us zone the space and bring rhythm to the layout, defining areas for different modes of work while keeping the overall atmosphere vibrant and cohesive.
The timber slatted screen helps visually separate the two areas without closing off the space, maintaining an open flow that invites interaction. Carefully considered details, from lighting to furniture choice, help elevate the experience and make the space feel polished yet approachable.
The space was designed to be multifunctional, with enough flexibility to suit the team’s evolving needs. A central meeting table comfortably seats eight to ten people, while a more relaxed lounge zone encourages informal catch-ups and solo work.
The result is a studio that not only looks the part but feels right for the people who use it every day. It reflects the culture and creativity of Yawn Marketing while setting them up with an environment that can grow alongside them. Functional, flexible and full of personality.
After a period of significant business growth, Yawn Marketing moved offices and started looking for an interior designer to help create a space that matched our style and ambition. Layrd Design were everything we had hoped for; personable, professional and infinitely creative.
We needed a fun, collaborative space to meet with clients, run workshops and host training sessions. The space needed to showcase our creativity and the character behind our team, but it also needed to be practical - a place where people want to get stuff done!
Layrd’s grasp of our brief was extremely impressive and we were knocked out from the very first set of designs. Will and the team handled the installation work and selected furniture for us, keeping in constant communication and making the whole process stress free.
The finished space couldn’t be more ‘us’. We never get bored of people telling us how impressive our office space is, and we never miss a chance to rave about Layrd Design
