The Gamechanger Suite
Layrd completed a full turnkey interior design and fit-out for Ipswich Town Football Club’s Gamechanger Suite in August 2024, delivered in just six weeks during the pre-season window.
Created in collaboration with GS Contracts, the project merged two executive boxes into a premium hospitality suite designed to mark the club’s promotion and usher in a new era at Portman Road.
Purpose-built for the club’s owners and elite guests, the space delivers a high-end but unpretentious hospitality experience.
Table service replaces the traditional buffet model, aligning with the client’s request for a more exclusive, refined setting. With capacity for up to 40 guests, the suite now hosts game day experiences as well as a range of off-season events and conferences.
A bold and contemporary aesthetic underpins the scheme, using black, copper, and natural timber to create a warm, grounded feel. A mesh ceiling grid, fluted feature wall, and tactile finishes bring texture and atmosphere, while a holographic logo and custom signage signal the club’s forward-looking ambitions.
We partnered with Connolly Electrical to install four programmable settings that adjust the ambience depending on use.
A bespoke oak bar with a black metal front was reconfigured on-site to work around newly uncovered pipework, showcasing our ability to solve challenges quickly.
The design is fully adaptable and includes multiple layout options for flexible use: 40 classroom style, 90 boardroom style, 200 banquet, or 60 U-shape seating. Throughout the project, we worked with local and sustainable suppliers including Solus, Tarkett and Actiu, ensuring the project met both quality and environmental expectations.
