Haverhill, Suffolk

Anatolia

The previous fit-out, once home to a Turkish restaurant, came with good bones and existing features that we repurposed into something fresh. Working closely with the client, we designed a new scheme that felt vibrant, welcoming and just the right side of indulgent.

A Mediterranean grill with flavour, flair and a lot of personality

Anatolia, a Mediterranean grill and cocktail bar in Suffolk, approached Layrd in 2022 to transform a tired restaurant unit in the centre of Haverhill. The brief? Create a space that felt luxurious and authentic, somewhere that could celebrate bold flavours and offer guests a full dining and drinking experience under one roof.

Interior designer Eleanor shaped the space around two main zones: a relaxed Mediterranean dining area and a lively cocktail bar tucked just beyond. Blue and white tones run through the restaurant, grounded by rich timber flooring, soft lighting and marble-topped tables. Patterned tiles and archway booths bring charm and rhythm, while a slatted divider gently leads the way to the bar. It’s a space designed for slow meals, shared stories and easy atmosphere.

In contrast, the bar brings a brighter, more playful energy. Pink, green and deep blue tones set the tone, paired with luxurious materials like brass, marble and traditional tiles. The original bar counter was kept and reimagined with vibrant cladding, while bespoke shelving brings storage and sparkle in equal measure.

A little moment of calm

A luxurious spa-like bathroom experience was a must for Anatolia. Large mirrors and a soothing colour palette of soft pinks, dark blues and elegant greens promote a sense of calm and relaxation. Statement wallpaper captures the imagination and introduces new life to the space using flora and fauna.

Natural materials, conscious sourcing and details like Tala lighting added a premium feel while keeping long-term impact in mind.

The result is a restaurant and cocktail bar that feels joyful, generous and something special - from the first plate to the final pour.
