Layrd Design completed this Interior Design & Project Management scheme for an innovative quantum computing firm based in the heart of Cambridge in the summer of 2021.
The brief for the space was to transform the existing uninspiring office into a workspace that encourages employee collaboration, inspires creativity and represents a fast growing tech startup, whilst ensuring the office area was a suitable environment for focused work.
The completed scheme includes flexible meeting rooms with a folding whiteboard wall to allow the transformation into a large boardroom, a small breakout area with soft seating and tea point, acoustic wall art, LED company signs, a moss wall, plently of planting and vegetation, bold colour scheme, bespoke lighting and many more features.
In addition to the interior design, Layrd also specified and supplied all of the furniture for the space. This includes all sit/stand workstations and ergonomic Orangebox Eva Task chairs, Boss Design soft seating, bespoke round meeting table, breakout seating and flip top flexible tables.
The large "Lunch Room" was designed to feel markedly different from the office space, it has a welcoming café vibe, encouraging teams to step away from their desks for lunch. Featuring warm lighting, natural daylight, wood-effect vinyl flooring and a variety of seating areas, the emphasis is on employee comfort and relaxation.

We have been mindful to make environmentally responsible choices throughout, using natural and sustainable materials wherever possible, including Tala lighting and recyclable Tarkett flooring. We also used local trades and suppliers to lower the carbon footprint of the project.
