The Boardroom
In summer 2022, Layrd Design worked with Regent Construction to deliver the full interior design and refurbishment of the Executive Hospitality Suite at Cambridge United Football Club. The aim was to upgrade the space into something more vibrant, modern and reflective of the club’s identity and its connection to the city.

We carried out a full redesign of the Director’s Boardroom, which previously sat as a plain white shell. The brief called for a space with character, presence and impact. It needed to welcome senior guests, showcase the club’s story and reflect the pride Cambridge United takes in both its heritage and future.

The finished scheme is bold, confident and full of personality. A warm timber wall panelling wraps the space with texture and tone, while a custom bottle bar gives the hospitality area a focal point with presence.
The design pulls directly from the spirit of the club. Large-scale wall graphics, deep colour contrasts and considered finishes bring the space to life, creating a backdrop that feels modern, memorable and unmistakably Cambridge United.

This was more than just a visual refresh. It was about giving the boardroom purpose and presence. Every detail was selected to elevate the guest experience and reflect the professionalism, ambition and pride of the club.

Modern seating, durable materials and carefully planned lighting ensure the space not only looks the part but functions beautifully too.

The transition has been quite incredible, at the planning stage, I had full confidence in both Layrd Design and Regent Construction that the outcome would be great, but the final product is beyond my expectations. The design process was based around creating a premium space for supporters to enjoy a special occasion, entertain clients or simply to upgrade their Matchday experience.
