Stirling House
Stirling House, located on Cambridge Innovation Parks, is a smart office hub home to transformational Cambridge-based businesses. We completed the interior design, FF&E, project management and fit-out of this scheme in March of 2024.
The existing space was outdated and lacked functionality. Our client briefed us to make a drastic change to the look and feel of the space, modernising it to ensure businesses can come together to collaborate. We also increased the available facilities by introducing a new hospitality offering, upgrading bookable meeting rooms and elevating shared bathrooms and kitchens. This is not only more usable for resident businesses but also aims to attract new companies to the park.
Stirling House is now a welcoming space with natural, calming tones and wood finishes throughout. The atrium area is organic, comprised of muted greens, whereas the new Café and Collab breakout has some vibrant pops of colour. We branded the space with bold signage by CIM Signs and Graphics to create a clearer identity.
Space zoning was integral in making Stirling House a user-friendly building. We’ve introduced a range of co-working areas that suit different working styles. The atrium lends itself to more social working, with soft seating options and collaborative tables. The food and beverage area has a self-catering set-up with wipeable furniture, vending machines offering hot meals and Liquidline coffee machines. Dimmer lighting and thought-out furniture styles were used in the collaboration room to create a focused atmosphere, with booth seating to suit small meetings or quiet working, offering both soundproofing and privacy.
Stirling House embraces biophilic design elements to enhance occupant wellbeing and connection to nature. New planting, provided by The Good Plant Company, brings the space to life alongside a moss-covered reception desk and art panels. Existing tree planters were transformed into a central feature, recladded and surrounded by built-in decking and seating, creating a vibrant and inviting oasis.
On this scheme, we specified Shaw carpet tiles and sent Stirling House’s existing flooring back with Shaw’s re[TURN] scheme to be used by their partner, The Salvation Army.
Where possible, we specified second-hand furniture, while existing kitchen and bathroom units were vinyl-wrapped to extend the life of existing products.
We collaborated with local contractors and sourced local artwork to reduce the carbon footprint of the project.

As an innovation hub, it was important for the communal spaces at Stirling House to have the versatility to reflect different working styles and different types of users. The environment allows businesses and employees to feel inspired and find the perfect space to connect and collaborate.
