Meet the Team: Karolina Zielińska

Get to know Karolina, Layrd's new Technical Designer, discover why she wants to work for Layrd, find out about her previous design experience and hear what her dream project looks like.

Can you tell us a little bit about your previous design experience?

I began my career as a landscape architect, but as I explored new interests, I transitioned into space planning. This journey motivated me to move into interior design and the technical elements involved.

What inspired you to pursue a role in interior design?

From a young age, I have always had a passion for creativity, whether it was designing elements in our home or working in the garden alongside my parents and sister. Art and photography have held a special place in my heart, and I also find great inspiration in dancing, which is another beautiful form of creativity.

How would you describe yourself as a designer?

As a designer, I believe that truly listening to the brief can unlock the potential to create something truly unique, which can significantly influence our emotions and perceptions of a space.

What does a typical day look like in the studio as a Technical Designer?

As a technical designer and a mum, my day usually begins with taking my little boy to the childminder. On my way to work, I enjoy listening to motivating audiobooks, and I always treat myself to a nice cup of coffee once I arrive at the studio. I appreciate my morning routine, which includes checking emails and staying updated on various inquiries from my team and contractors. After that, I dive into my projects, primarily focusing on technical and construction drawings, along with site visits and meetings. Each day offers valuable opportunities for personal growth.

Why did you want to join Layrd?

Layrd Design caught my eye with its impressive portfolio that showcases character-driven work, all thanks to the talented and creative team behind it. As soon as I stepped into the studio, I wanted to join Layrd Design. I am very lucky!

If you could work on any project, where would it be and what would it look like?

I have a passion for connecting interior design with landscape architecture, as I feel these two fields beautifully enhance each other. Both nature and interior spaces can provide a soothing experience for the soul. That's why I'm eager to take on a project in a forest setting, where individuals can unwind or focus while being immersed in the beauty of nature.
