Following a busy 12 months, we look back on the highlights of 2022, including award wins, project successes and new events.
Projects
Since the start of the year we have been hard at work with a number of new clients. The most notable have included the design and fit-out of office spaces for Yawn Marketing and the Cambridge Roof Exchange.
It was also fantastic to get the opportunity to create a reimagined space at Cambridge United Football Club. The new Layrd Lounge is now a much more atmospheric area, perfect for hospitality and other corporate visitors.
Among our other projects were exciting designs for Douce, Eventus and Cambridge United Suites. In addition (for the first time ever!), we left English shores to work on designs for the interiors of Ireland Opticians.
Events
The year 2022 has also been a hectic - but successful - year in terms of events.
In July, we kicked off our first ever Future Spaces event at Norwich City Football Club. Intended to showcase how creative design can enhance sustainability and well-being in commercial interior spaces, it proved to be an inspiring occasion for all attendees.
The following month, we also launched Sketch & Social. Held every fortnight in Cambridge, these fantastic free events are a great way for people to socialise and unleash their creativity.
Finally, in October we were the proud sponsors of the Eat Chat Chill Area at the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce B2B Exhibition. It was so rewarding to support this show and personalise this space for networking and catching up at Norfolk’s largest business-to-business exhibition.
Awards
Over the course of the past 12 months, we were also recognised at several awards.
In October, we were nominated for another SBID International Design Award, thanks to our scheme at Queens College, Cambridge. To be recognised in this way by a prestigious global awards body is a fantastic achievement and a credit to our team’s hard work.
At the SME Cambridge Awards we were nominated for two categories, with our very own Will Mayes going on to win the Silver Award for Young Business Person of The Year. Well done, Will!
Office
Finally, there’s been a lot of activity in the Layrd Design headquarters. Over the year, we have introduced two new designers to the business, Gina and Emily, along with Emily Gray our new Design Studio Manager. In November, we also upsized our office space to give us even more creative space for our growing team.
