1. How did you start your career in events?
I'd say my passion for events started long before my career did. Music has always been a huge part of my life, and from my early teens I was constantly attending gigs, shows, and festivals. Whilst the main focus is on the performance, I naturally found myself fascinated by everything happening behind the scenes and how all the moving parts came together to create unforgettable experiences. I knew I wanted to be the person making that happen!
That passion led me to study Popular Music Performance & Events Management at university. During my summer and winter breaks, I worked at a local wedding venue, where I really discovered my calling. I started working behind the bar before progressing to Events Assistant, Events Coordinator, and eventually after graduating, Events Manager. That role gave me such a great foundation and truly kick-started my career.
I then had the opportunity in joining Layrd, where I've been able to work on an incredible variety of events. The opportunities have been endless, and it's been exciting to be part of a business that's constantly growing and pushing boundaries.
2.What does your average day look like?
Every day starts the same way, with a coffee of course!
No two days are ever identical, which is one of the things I love most about events. A typical day or week involves keeping on top of emails, working closely with our marketing team, reviewing our events calendar and event platforms, coordinating ongoing events, assisting with office arrangements, and exploring new opportunities for Layrd and the wider team. It's an ever-changing role, but that's what makes it so rewarding and exciting.

3.What is one of the biggest challenges you face in your job role?
The events industry is constantly evolving, and plans can change at a moment's notice. Whether it's a logistical challenge, or an unexpected request. You must be able to adapt quickly and think on your feet.
For me, one of the biggest skills in events is solving problems before anyone even realises there was one - It's a bit like magic!
4.What events are you currently working on?
My main focus right now is our annual conference, Future Spaces, which will be taking place on Thursday 4 February 2027.
Future Spaces is the home of high-performance environments, bringing together professionals from across the sport, wellness, hospitality and commercial design sectors for a day of inspiring talks, industry insights and valuable networking.
I joined Layrd just before our last Future Spaces event in October 2025, so it's incredibly exciting to now be leading preparations for what will be our fifth edition and our biggest one yet!
The upcoming eventreally reflects on how much Future Spaces has evolved. We've introduced our newbranding and hosting the conference at one of the world’s leading venues, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It's our most ambitious event to date, and I can't wait to see it all come together. Tickets and partnership opportunities are now open, so head over to our website to find out more!
Alongside Future Spaces, we're also preparing to exhibit at Stadia Expo later this year, and we'll soon be turning our attention to our lounge partnership at PerformX early next year. On top of that, we have a number of other events in the pipeline, so it's a really exciting time for the team and Layrd’s growth.

5. What makes an event truly memorable, and what details do you think have the biggest impact on the attendee experience?
I'm a huge foodie, so I genuinely believe food is one of the things people remember most about an event. Whether it's a barbecue, a wedding or a festival, people always talk about the food afterwards..for better or worse! That's why getting it right really matters.
Beyond the food, I'm also a big believer in the power of small details. I love subtle touches and hidden surprises that people discover naturally throughout an event. Whether that's thoughtful personalisation, a signature scent, an unexpected experience, or a considered finishing touch. Those are often the moments people share with others afterwards as they feel authentic and memorable.
Overall, I think the entire customer journey is what creates a memorable experience. It starts from the moment someone first hears about the event, which continues right the way through until the event itself. It doesn't actually end – people should already be thinking about what’s next. Every interaction is an opportunity to make people feel valued, excited, and considered. That's what builds loyalty, keeps people coming back and lets you know you have created something special.
