CRE 2

Cambridge Roof Exchange
Cambridge Innovation Park, Waterbeach

A returning client, Cambridge Roof Exchange are experts in refurbishing industrial buildings, advising, designing and installing

Whether it be a new roof, roof refurbishment, cladding or a complete industrial build; we advise, help with design and install.

Emily Batten from Layrd Design was approached at the end of 2022 to design a new, larger office space for CRE after a successful office Design and Fit-out in May 2022. Moving to a larger space, the client desired/requested an innovative space, to inspire clients and set apart from traditional industry perceptions.

Impactful CRE branding can be seen throughout the space, with bold signage and vinyl welcoming clients at reception, creating a memorable first impression. Consisting of two separate work sections, the space is cleverly zoned using different shades of Tarkett flooring, a sustainable and environmentally friendly finish.

A large breakout area follows with a high top table offering both work space and an area to socialise or relax. Partitioned using bold CRE panelling, a fully separate office offers privacy and additional workspace for meetings, fully fitted with acoustic panels for extra soundproofing.

Using key features from the initial project in May, an electric/light blue stripe, warm grey tones and orange accents create an energetic and engaging environment throughout the office. A conscious decision to repurpose lighting and furniture from the original space was important, carrying elements of the previous branding throughout the new space.

BIOPHILLIC DESIGN

Ample greenery was an important feature for CRE. Plants are proven to improve team wellbeing, increase workplace productivity and aesthetically soften schemes for a welcoming space. In summary, plants offer various physical, psychological, and aesthetic benefits, making them important for creating a conducive and pleasant work environment.
