Will Mayes

Will is the CEO & Founder of Layrd Design. He has 10 years in the creative industry and started Layrd in 2019 with the vision of building a creative and engaging interior design studio.

 

Will has been nominated for various awards and won Creative Entrepreneur of the Year for the East of England at the FSB Awards in 2023.

Emily Watson

Our Head of Operations, Emily, thrives in collaborative environments, always going the extra mile to support the team. Her passion for organisation, well-being and team culture ensures a positive, welcoming and productive atmosphere in the Layrd studio.

 

Outside of the studio, Emily will either be in the gym or creating soy wax candles and reed diffusers - she developed the Layrd signature scent, elevating our sensory branding!

Emily Batten

Our Head of Business Development, Emily, is passionate about creating great experiences -whether that’s an athlete’s route to the action, a fan’s journey through the venue, or the feel of a premium hospitality space. Every detail is designed with the end user in mind. Emily works closely with each client to tailor designs to their space, needs, and vision, ensuring a collaborative approach from start to finish.

 

Outside of work, she loves trying new food spots, walks on the beach, and spending time with her black lab, Poppy.

Hannah Carlisle

Hannah Carlisle

Hannah leads our FF&E division of Layrd and Designers Touch, our dedicated finishing service. With a background originally in event floristry, she approaches every project with an eye for styling and a deep understanding of aesthetics. For Hannah, it’s about curating the final layer of a project that turns each space into a sensory experience - the kind of space that instantly draws you in and makes you want to stay just a little longer. Whether it’s selecting statement furniture, artful accents, or those small, tactile details, Hannah’s focus is on evoking comfort, luxury, and a genuine sense of connection within each project.

When she’s not obsessing over the right chairs, mugs and the‘fun things’ in the studio, she’s likely admiring the latest Zara has to offeror busy with her other full-time job of raising two daughters.

Olivia Culley

Olivia brings creativity and people-centred thinking to the team, she enjoys designing spaces that connect people and encourage meaningful interactions. The thing she finds most fulfilling is turning ideas into spaces that people love spending time in.

 

When not designing, Olivia recharges by catching up with family and friends, camping or taking trips at the weekend and spending time outdoors.

Lexi Brown

Our Head of Sports & Stadia, Lexi, studied Creative Advertising at the University of Lincoln, qualifying as an Art Director before building a career across a range of creative industries. From visual merchandising and retail design to developing format designs for major brands, she has always enjoyed creating spaces that balance creativity with functionality. Now specialising in bespoke interior projects, Lexi loves seeing a design come to life and thrives in a fast-paced environment where every detail matters.

When she's not working, Lexi enjoys paddle boarding, hiking, spending time outdoors and relaxing with her cat. Originally from South Africa, she also loves returning to visit family and exploring the country's safari parks.

Beth is passionate about creating sustainability-conscious interiors, turning initial ideas into functional spaces. She enjoys working within all the sectors as a Designer, as it means she collaborates with each member of the Layrd Team.

 

Outside of work, Beth enjoys reading, the gym, and going on runs around her village.

Karolina Zielinska

Technical Designer

Karolina Zielinska

Karolina collaborates closely with the Layrd Design interior designers, along with external architects and contractors, to ensure that the design intent is understood and well-executed. Each day, she assists the internal team in the process of turning design concepts and 3D visuals into technical drawings and specifications, making sure that projects are both feasible and compliant with the regulations. In her role as a technical designer, she manages the drawing and document standards, making sure they are maintained throughout all sectors.

 

When she's not immersed in design, Karolina enjoys quality time with her young family (including their dog), as well as gardening and exploring the outdoors.

Molly Clayton

Molly Clayton

Molly is a creative with a passion for health and wellbeing, designing with inclusivity at the forefront without compromising on aesthetics. She believes interior design should be approached holistically, particularly in Sports and Stadia environments - whether supporting player performance or creating public spaces that thoughtfully meet the needs of all users.

 

Outside of work, you can find Molly playing netball, at the theatre or with family and friends.

Sedona is a creative designer who enjoys crafting spaces that balance aesthetics and functionality. She values collaboration and working closely with clients and team members to design environments that thoughtfully meet the needs of everyone, bringing concepts to life from start to finish.

 

Outside of work, Sedona can be found tackling renovation and DIY projects, exploring on campervan trips, and doting on her high-maintenance French Bulldog.

With a background in the wedding industry, Abbie thrives in fast-paced environments and consistently puts people’s experiences at the heart of everything she does.

 

Outside the world of events, Abbie enjoys singing, styling colourful outfits, planning her next travels and concerts, and spending time with her beloved Frenchie, Stitch.

Laura is one of our newest designers, with a background in residential design. Working across all sectors, she enjoys translating her experience into thoughtful, functional spaces with a people-first approach.

 

Outside of the studio, Laura splits her time between Cambridge and Felixstowe, enjoying crafts, reading and the occasional pub quiz or live music.

Charlie Leeder

Charlie is a Junior Interior Designer passionate about how interior design influences wellbeing, with a focus on natural light and organic elements. From her experience at university, she believes these elements play a key role in enhancing comfort, boosting personal wellbeing, and aiding recovery.

 

Outside of work, she enjoys going on walks, discovering new cafés, and hunting for records to add to her growing collection.

Grace Goddard

Our Marketing Executive, Grace, enjoys the combination of creativity and analytical thinking that marketing brings. Since completing her master's degree, she has developed her career in marketing and enjoys finding creative solutions, solving problems, and learning something new every day. She has found the interior design industry to be an exciting, fast-paced environment where she thrives.

Outside of work, Grace runs her own competitive dance team, travelling across the country for competitions. She also choreographs routines for dance clubs and universities nationwide, and has previously competed internationally.

Dominika Krol

Interior Designer, Dominika, studied Interior Design at De Montfort University, turning a lifelong passion for art and design into a career in the creative industry. She enjoys the balance of creativity and technical thinking, designing thoughtful spaces that are both functional and centred around the people who use them.

In her spare time, Domi enjoys baking, sketching and creating digital artwork. She also loves travelling, spending time with family and friends, and keeping active with tennis and reformer Pilates. At home, she's a proud dog owner to Zoe, who always keeps life fun.

Olivia Brill

Project Coordinator, Olivia, developed her passion for colour, texture and creating beautiful spaces while studying Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University, where she specialised in woven fabrics. After university, she moved into residential interior design, where she discovered a love for the turnkey design process and enjoys seeing projects come together from concept to completion.

Olivia also enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as playing netball.

Our Junior Designer Intern, Tyla, has always been creatively driven, with a passion for designing spaces that improve user experience and comfort. While at university, she discovered biophilic design, an approach that continues to influence her work today. She is passionate about sustainability and enjoys incorporating natural materials into her designs to create environments that support health and wellbeing.

Outside of work, Tyla enjoys painting, photography and exploring new places. Whether she's out on a scenic walk or planning her next adventure, she is always seeking new inspiration.
